Stop This Madness, Restrict Access To Acid And Other Hazardous Substances

People running the country have been told to act aggressively to restrict access to acid and other hazardous substances that are being increasingly weaponized and used to cause a lot of pain – kill and disfigure others, by depraved and heartless elements in the society.

Amos Kelvin Annan, a consultant and life coach, says a law needs to be enacted to stop the madness of drenching people in acid.

He is unable to understand why the leaders – those put in charge of the affairs of the state, are not taking stringent measures to make it difficult for anybody to come by acid or any other hazardous substances, which can be used to cause unimaginable bodily harm and death.

There have been many instances in the country, where insecure and jealous men had acid-bathed their lovers over claims of cheating on them.

Some extremely possessive wives and girlfriends had also inflicted severe acid burns on perceived rivals.

The call for a law, restricting access to the corrosive substance comes on heels of a 10-year jail sentence imposed on a driver, Bright Boso, for pouring acid on his 24-year lover, Grace Amezandu.

Grace suffered severe burns in the face, chest, breasts and hands. She will now require Ghs60,000.00 to undergo surgery and out of this amount, Ghs6,000.00 is needed urgently to save her from going blind.

Boso and Grace have two children and they live in a kiosk erected on an undeveloped land at Christian Village, in Accra.

Boso has been accusing Grace of seeing another man in the neighbourhood and this often would generate heat between them. He threatened that her hypnotic beauty would soon be gone, and she would be looking like an old hag.

Less than 48 hours after this threat, Boso returned from work late in the night, when Grace was asleep, removed acid in a container he brought with him, drenched her in the acid and sneaked out of the place.
