Kofi Asare- What About The Unemployed Paying More To Government And Transport Owners While Hustling?

The Executive Director of Africa Educational Watch, Mr Kofi Asare has lamented on how the 13.4% unemployed people are surviving while paying taxes to government with their hustling.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on, Monday, 9th May 2022, he wrote;

“There is high inflation, high unemployment, high debt & low revenue. 

Government has cushioned itself with e-levy to fix low revenue.

Drivers and vehicle owners are regularly cushioned with higher fares to mitigate high prices of fuel and parts.

Workers have been given a paltry 4% sorpi

What about the 13.4% unemployed paying more to government and transport owners while hustling?

What about pensioners?”

The comments of Mr. Kofi Asare comes as a background to the announcement made by transport owners to increase fare by 20%. According to them, it is necessary for the increment since fuel prices and spare parts has risen. Transport fares have been increased at some parts of Ghana following the announcement.
