The issue of fake social media accounts keeps rising by the day. There are deludes of imposters who are into the business of masquerading themselves as public figures. Being it facebook, twitter, instagram or whatever social media platforms you can think of, some people have very genuine reasons as to why they choose to be or not to be on some of these platforms. But it’s interesting how there are millions of phony profiles or accounts posing as actors, singers, politicians and other well known public figures all in the bid to broadcast falsehoods, cheat people out of money and so on. Although not his first time, former President John Dramani Mahama is unhappy about a fake account that has been registered in her daughter Farida’s name.
In a tweet, the former President and leader of the main opposition party (National Democratic Party, NDC) posted a picture of a fake twitter account which has been registered with her daughter, Farida Dramani Mahama’s name and cautioned the general public to desist from any engagement whatsoever with the said account. He wrote ” My daughter, Farida Mahama, does not have a Twitter account. Kindly ignore and stop following the account in the attached screenshot, set up by some unscrupulous person and being used to send out tweets in her name”.
