It was all joy when staff of Denkyiraman Radio donated some essentials items to health authorities at Dunkwa on Offin Municipal Hospital to help cater for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Twenty five Mothers and their newly born babies and pregnant women have been honoured by a Dunkwa based radio station Denkyiraman Radio 91.9 MHz with baby products for their selfless commitment to humanity.
The gesture which was part of this year’s Mother’s Day celebration was to honour the immeasurable contribution of women and acknowledge their efforts in building the lives of children in society.
Children on this day either acquire gifts for their mothers, give them special treats either at home or outside the home or allow them to rest while they do all chores and prepare them their favourite meals.
The Day basically gives children the platform to make mothers feel special, loved, appreciated, adored and happy.
Items worth thousand of Ghana cedis includes detol, methylated spirit, Cusson baby soap, washing powder, wipers, baby diapers, toilet rolls, soaps, among other valuables were donated to all the mothers and pregnant women at the maternity ward of the Dunkwa Municipal Hospital.
At a brief ceremony to officially hand over the items to hospital authorities on Sunday, May 8, 2022, the General Manager of Denkyiraman Radio Mr. Justice Oppong -Mensah,
said the donation was to appreciate mothers and express our love to the needy, especially Mothers and the less privileged.
According to him, apart from God, we owe our Mothers our own existence because they were the first faces we saw when we were born and on an occasion like this, there was the need to show love by interacting with staff, care givers, mothers and pregnant women at the Dunkwa Municipal Hospital.
He added that the donation forms part of activities lined up towards the first anniversary of Denkyiraman Radio.
He noted, that mothers are incredibly strong, resourceful, resilient and are the backbone of the society and therefore deserve to be celebrated and honoured for their positive contributions.
Expressing her appreciation to Denkyiraman Radio , the Matron at the Dunkwa Municipal Hospital , Mrs. Henrietta Ahenakwaa, advised mothers to spend more time with their children.
She added that, the items will help solve the problem of pregnant mothers reporting at the wards without the required items for delivery.
She also appealed for more support from other Institutions as the Municipal Hospital lacks other facilities.
Some of the beneficiaries could not hide their excitement after receiving their items.
Madam Akua Manu from Ntontom, a farming community within the upper Denkyira East Municipality also thanked Denkyiraman Radio for the kind gesture and pledged to use the items well.
She stated that, the items will help boost their spirit during delivery.
