Paul Adom Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana and board chair of the Ghana Airport Company today, Saturday, May 7, 2022 stormed the studios of TV3 for The Keypoints. Paul Adom clashed with Franklin Cudjoe of Imani Africa and Sulemana Braimah of the Media Foundation for West Africa. The trio and Dzifa Bampoh delved into issues relating to press freedom and how Ghana had fallen down the ladder of rankings.
It can be recalled that earlier this week the World Press Index released rankings that placed Ghana at 60th globally. Dzifa Bampoh the host raised issues about how journalists have been victimized by politicians and cited that issue of how nothing has been done despite a politician publicly posting the photo of Ahmed Suale and called on him to be beaten.
In response Paul Adom noted that it would be misleading to say that the Suale hit is a local one. He explained that Suale worked on a number of international investigations and so he could have enemies from both Ghana and other countries. Paul agreed that no politician had the right to victimize a journalist but called on a wider form of investigation because of the coverage that Suale had.
However, before Paul could finish, the host alerted him that she wouldn’t allow him to finish it because it was clear that Kennedy Agyapong had posted the photo of the journalist on TV and so the police should have started their investigation from there. She queried why Paul will say that the death of Suale had international dimensions when it was clear his attackers could be local if the police had done their work well. According to Dzifa, Paul was trying to divert the issue by giving it an international dimension.
