John Mahama this week granted a presentation titled, Ghana at crossroads. The presentation looked at Ghana’s ailing economy and the way forward. The former president John Mahama blamed President Akufo-Addo and his Vice President Bawumia for all the economic hardships that the country was going through. John raised questions about the collapse of banks, failed cedi, covid-19 funds embezzlement and the incompetence of some government appointees.
John Mahama had complained that about 27 billion was used to collapse banks that would have survived had about 9 million been injected into them. Today, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the ruling government organized a press conference to address some of the issues raised by John Mahama. It is amazing how a ruling government always rushes to address matters raised by the leader of the opposition. According to Buaben Asamoa, the former president is desperate to come to power and will do anything. Interestingly, Buaben Asamoa noted that the collapse of some banks was necessary.
The NPP Communications Director was of the view that allowing these banks to operate would have endangered the hard earned monies of the customers. He added that John Mahama was not bold enough to close down these banks but President Akufo-Addo was bold and managed to shut down those banks to create a better future for the customers of those banks.
