Pastors Should Be Blamed For Economic Crisis And Not Officials – Newspaper Vendor

A newspapers vendor in Kumasi, Mr Bismark Ayensu has pushed blame on pastors over the alleged economic hardships the citizens are currently undergoing through insisting that pastors have lost directions to discharge their mandates as agents of change.

Speaking to the correspondent in an interview, Mr Ayensu who is the Vice chairman of the Ashanti regional Newspaper Vendors Association alleged that number of antisocial vices in the society are masterminded by some pastors who hardly recognise that their attitudes could raise credibility problems in the society.

The vendor noted that it is no more secret these days for Ghanaians to wake up every morning to read from the dailies, radio and television stations as well as the social media platforms on how certain pastors allegedly use false means to commit crimes in the name of God.

Ayensu related that for the fact that there genuine pastors in the country, the pollutant ones outnumber the true agents of God.

Touching on the government officials who allegedly embezzle states funds, the vendor though condemned the act, and said since such officials are not pastors, evil forces can can influence them to commit crimes.

Adding that it was against this background that government has put measures in place to punish officials who are caught in the act to have stolen government funds.

Ayensu alleged that the number of pastors in the country are almost equal to government officials taking into accounts number of churches in the country.

Stressing that whilst majority of these pastors use the name of God to commit crimes and go unpunished then who should be held responsible about the country’s crisis.

Pastors he alleged as agents of change and are duty bound to pray for the peace, unity and development of the country such qualities are non existence in the priesthood these days expect financial struggle.

Throwing more light to defend his allegations Ayensu said today many pastors have turned into soothsayers, Mallams and fetish priests who charge huge sums of monies after giving directions (Akwankyere) to people.

Such monetary struggles Ayensu alleged further are the cause leading to the spread of churches in the country because people believes that using the Bible is the easiest way of making wealth without question.

The vendor on this note appealed to the government as a matter of national interest to come out with measures that could sanitize the priesthood.

This is because many pastors have been pretending as true men of God whilst they know in their hearts that they are fake pastors who aimed at extorting monies to enrich themselves.

Concluding Ayensu opined that if government officials allegedly behave in a manner the pastors use to amass wealth, what situation may the country finds itself.
