The fate of West Africa Football Academy now lies in the last seven matches of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The Academy boys must win three straight games and hope Eleven Wonders, RTU, King Faisal and Accra Lions who are above them, keep dropping points to increase their survival chances. WAFA sit 17th on the league log with 26 points after falling 1-0 to leaders, Asante Kotoko in week 27 at home, deepening their season’s woes.
For a club that finished 3rd last season, it looks increasingly tough this term to avoid the drop but head coach, Guillermo Zaragoza is clutching on to hope. “We just have to keep going, we just have to make sure that in training we don’t relax.
“We are pushing to the maximum intensity everyday and we don’t drop the focus because at the end of the day I think these boys are young but they have great mentality. WAFA are away to bottom club, Elmina Sharks in week 28 at the Nduom Stadium on Sunday, May 8.
