A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has boldly sent a strong message to the New Patriotic Party. He asked them to take the message seriously and do it if they want to break the eight in the 2024 elections.

While speaking in an interview with Citi FM on Eyewitness News, Prof. Gyampo revealed that, if the NPP is serious about breaking the eight, then they should re-run the internal elections in areas where there are disputes. He revealed it seems the NPP has not taken a clue from happenings in their party in the past that made them perform badly in the general elections.

“ party truly wants to break the eight, then these undemocratic practices in the party will not help them. So the earlier they put an end to it to ensure that the people decide, the better for them. There is a lot of chaos happening in so many constituencies and that is not helping.”

“The best way forward is to rerun the elections in those areas. For people who feel cheated, no amount of compensation will assuage their pain. If people feel things have not been done right, and you still go ahead with the process in a manner that favored some people in an undemocratic manner, the only compensation is to rerun the processes and allow the people to decide.” Prof. Gyampo boldly told the NPP on Citi FM.

Thanks for reading this article. Do you agree with Prof. Gyampo that indeed the party should re-run elections at places where the members are not satisfied?

Do you think that’s possible?
