The controversial Electronic Levy law is slated to begin implementation on Sunday, May 1st 2022.
All telecommunication networks and banks have began alerting customers on the start date of the deduction as stated above.
The initial bill struck concerns among majority of Ghanaians but their concerns has had less impact in it’s subsequent approval to become a law.
Effective May 1, 2022, Ghanaians will have to pay taxes on all their electronic transactions from bank to bank, bank to wallet, wallet to bank and wallet to wallet transactions.
All telecommunication network users and bank account holders in Ghana will be expected to receive the message below from their designated transaction sources.
The Ministry of Information, Ministry of Communications and the Ghana Media Commission are currently helping in explaining the reasons for the law and why each and every Ghanaian should take responsibility in paying the electronic levy tax.
