The 21st Century’s shortcut to fame (social media) is to me the killer of real talent.Â
In the past, people had to dig deep and search within themselves to find that talent to wow the world.
People still do that today, but the pressure to work and achieve greatness by the exhibition of one unique gift has been reduced considerably, thanks to social media.
Today, someone can become a nationwide hit by showing off their butt, they will receive VIP treats at event and be referred to as celebraties.Â
This is a status people achieved in the past by exploring their creative instincts and coming out with seriously entertaining stuffÂ
The gap between the talented and the not so talented as far as the pursuit of fame and popularity has been bridged.Â
Thanks to social media.Â
Kwesi Atta launches an album, and in attendance is a tall list of musical talents.
Q.Who grabbed the headline?
A. Efia Odo.Â
Q. What did she have to do to earn this?Â
A. Showed her boobs
In fact, very little is talked of the album launch itself because someone decides to go with a see-through outfit. Such unethical behaviour shouldn’t have been glorified like it has because once Kofi TV and the likes are there, nonsense is given priority treatment.Â
Even Joy News is falling in line with this nonsense.Â
Hajia Bintu is now a brand ambassador for Fan Milk, what is the message to other young ladies labouring with real talent and with nothing to show? More nakeness, please.
There are so many young ladies who we cannot tell what they hold as the key to their success aside from showing off their bodies.
Such an easy road to fame should discourage hard work from the really talented because imagine Moesha grabbing headlines by just posting semi-nude pictures while Eno Baroni has to chase presenters for interviews.Â
As a journalist, I lose respect for presenters who easily give their platforms to such people when there are real talents out there desperately seeking to be seen and recognised.Â
Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii is becoming notorious for this, if it’s not holding big breasts on his platform, he is celebrating asses and what not. I’m calling him out because he doesn’t seem to recognise how big his platform is.Â
Today, you see a celebrity and when you ask, what do they do, they’d tell you, I’m a social media influencer. What do they influence on social media? They show skin.Â
When you talk, some people will say, it’s their body.Â
21-century madness.
