Today marks exactly 30 years since Ghana approved the 1992 constitution which has still been in existence till date.
Ghanaians were given the opportunity to transit to a democratic regime through a referendum organized on 28th April 1992.
The response was as greater section of the populace, over 90% accepted to transit into a democratic rule.
Late former President Jerry John Rawlings was the main architect of the current constitution and must be commendable.
Many years down the line, this constitution has still been in use and has seen four successive handover of power between the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.
This has proven enough that Ghana’s democracy is consolidated and has been in use for more than 20 years.
The fourth Republic is the longest serving republic in the history of Ghana and a great evidence to democratic consolidation.
