Ghana-born Qatar international Mohammed Muntari has revealed that no matter what, he will hold allegiance to Qatar over Ghana, his birthplace ahead of the global showpiece to be held in Qatar this year.
The striker while explaining the rationale behind his decision said Qatar gave him refuge and solace, sort of, and he is reciprocating the gesture by dumping Ghana for them.
“Truth be told, I will choose Qatar [if I have the chance to choose all over again]. I will choose Qatar every single day [because of] what they did for me [and] what they are doing for my people,” Muntari told 3 Sports recently.
“Deep inside, I knew I took the right decision so if you ask me to do it again, I will choose Qatar over Ghana. I am not saying anything bad about my beloved country Ghana.

“It was never financial [switching to Qatar]. We play football firstly because we love football and we want to take care of the people we want to take care of.
“I wouldn’t say it was financially [motivated] because, at the end of the day, I could have been playing for Ghana and still be earning much.”

“In football, you never know what is going to happen. I know many countries and teams are saying that Qatar is not a football country but we will take our chances and looking at our group, I think we have a very good chance of going into the next stage,” he concluded.
