Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, in the Ashanti Region has mocked John Dramani Mahama’s 2020 presidential running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, over her recent comments on the teacher trainee allowance.
He says she is desperately seeking political relevance with her palpable untruths about the teacher trainee allowance.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential running mate in the last general election, addressing students of the Wesley College in Kumasi, asserted that the teacher trainee allowance was never scrapped by the NDC government and that all they did was to replace it with a loan scheme.
Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, who is a member of the parliamentary select committee on education, makes a reference to a statement made by then President John Mahama in which he minced no words by telling the whole world that the allowance paid to the teacher trainees had been scrapped.
The NPP MP for Kwadaso said the claim by Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was therefore not consistent with the facts.
He added that any impartial observer of the media space could not fail to notice that the “NDC is coming after her and she is scared.
That is why she is making such a spurious claim. She is only longing for political relevance.”
Pollster Ben Ephson is urging John Dramani Mahama to drop – not to pick Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate in the 2024 general election.
He says doing that is going to cost him election victory.
Ben Ephson is asking the former President to select any of the leading party members who have announced their decision to contest the party’s presidential primary race.
He adds that from the body language of John Mahama, he is going to pick Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as running mate and this is not going to be a winning ticket.
