Kwaku Azar – Justice Must Be Done In Assin North Even If The Heavens Fall

Lawyer and KPMG Professor in Accounting at the Fisher School of Accounting, University of Florida Stephen Kwaku Asare widely known as Kwaku Azar has asserted that, Justice must really prevail in Assin North even if the heavens fall.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, 25th April 2022, he wrote;

“The Supreme Court concludes that “greater hardship, irreparable damage, and inconvenience will be occasioned to the Constitution, the rule of law, the tenets of democracy, the constituents of Assin North, and the Ghanaian people as a whole if the MP is allowed to continue to hold himself out as an MP pending the determination of this suit.”

It is truly difficult for me to see why the sky will fall merely because a duly elected MP continues to hold himself out as an MP during the pendency of a suit challenging his qualification.

When evaluated in its totality, the flowery justification of the injunctive order reads more like dressing up a flawed order as legal reasoning without doing any legal reasoning at all.

Justice must be done in Assin North even if the heavens fall.”
