KNUST Brouhaha: Kwame Sefa Kayi Petitions GES And MoE To Reintroduce Canning In Schools

According to renowned Ghanaian journalist, Kwame Sefa Kayi the canning system cancelled by the Ghana Education Service(GES) and Ministry of Education (MoE) in the various schools should be reintroduced to prevent further damages.

He claims the current issue which happened in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) resulted in 6000 students deferred due to inability to pay fees on time because they decided to invest their monies in a different business to earn a huge amount of money wouldn’t have happened if they were disciplined with canes at their various schools.

Narrating his own experience, he says, he was lashed severely at school and home, and the outcome is seen and admired by people.

Speaking to the Deputy Minister of Education,Ntim Fordjour. Kwame made mentioned that he didn’t even see his school fees with his eyes because his father was strict.

He further added that Ghana Education Service cancelling canning of students in school has caused more harm than good.

Although the Minister gave out many reasons why canning is bad, Kwame Sefa Kayi still held his opinion that canning should be reintroduced in our various schools.

He had many supports from people commenting, asking Ghana Education Service to reintroduce canning in the various schools in Ghana.

A lecturer on the program also tried to convince him by saying in the olden days, teachers were adults who wouldn’t cane to hurt a child but the current teachers are young and strong, they might hurt the child.

He made this bold statement in the latter part of the Kokrokoo Political Morning Show. Click the link to watch the video.
