A Nigerian national said to have forcibly had sex and seized at knife point the mobile phone of a Ghanaian woman he has met on a ‘dating app’ has been nabbed to face the law.
Calistus Ugochukwu Okafor lives in Mamprobi Kamara and he has met the young woman on “Meet 24” – a dating app.
Ugochukwu Okafor invited the woman to meet him at the Korle Bu Total Filling Station and fixed the time at 9.15 pm.
The expectations of the woman as could be imagined appeared very high, dressed up and was at the place dead on time – as the time struck exactly 9.15 pm, she was there, pacing up and down in anxious wait for Ugochukwu Okafor.
He came one hour late – 10.15 pm and took the woman to a secluded place, forcibly had sex with her and seized her phone at knifepoint.
As luck would have it, the woman, the next morning was on a bus from Dansoman-Agege to Kwame Nkrumah Circle with a friend, when she spotted Ugochukwu Okafor at the Mamprobi Lotto House bus stop and asked the driver to pulled up.
She ran together with the friend to confront the Nigerian – demand the return of her Infinix phone, costing Ghs800.00.
As they struggled, some passers-by helped to arrest and hand Ugochukwu Okafor to the Mamprobi police.
A police medical form was given to the young woman to go to the hospital for her vaginal swab to be taken for examination by doctors. Ugochukwu Okafor has already appeared before an Accra Circuit Court to answer criminal charges.
He denied any wrongdoing and the court presided over by Rosemond Baah Torsu granted him bail in the sum of Ghs80,000.00 with two sureties.
He was ordered to make his next appearance on Monday, May 16, 2022.
