Ghana Premier League defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak have walloped Accra Lions 3:0 at the Accra Sports Stadium this after. A brace from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and a goal from Agyenim Boateng sealed the vital points for coach Samuel Boadu and his lads. That was a revealing moment for the rainbow club.
The home side Accra Lions mounted early pressure on Accra Hearts of Oak but the defending league champions managed to cool off the pressure and had a control of the game. Caleb Amankwaa had better reading of the game and set up Obeng Junior but he was outmuscled by the opposing player.
The pressure seems to have paid off as Obeng Junior’s pass locates Salifu who dribbles the goalkeeper and shoots but Appiah’s attempt to save the situation resulted in a rebound for Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to tap in for an early goal.Â
Accra Hearts of Oak went in for the second goal as Frederick Ansah Botchway intercepts a pass and laid a pass to Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who finds Obeng, he delivered a powerful shot but goalkeeper Appiah Kubi makes a fine save to deny Hearts the second goal.
Dennis Korsah throws to Caleb Amankwaa and sends a pass to Salifu who then lays it to the goal scorer but it was beautifully intercepted by Jacob Mensah of Accra Lions.Â
Accra Lions later bounced back to make amends through counter attack but Mohammed Alhassan made a time intervention for Accra Hearts of Oak.Â
Accra Hearts of Oak ended the first half with their lone goal as Accra Lions continued to struggle for an equalizer.
As the second half resumed, Accra Hearts of Oak began to dominate proceedings and held balls for goal. Agyenim Boateng increased the tally for the Phobians as he outran his opponent to kick the ball into the net.Â
Salifu Ibrahim got the game under his way for Accra Hearts of Oak with a long range shot but goalkeeper Appiah Kubi saved it for Accra Lions.Â
A beautiful display of football from Hearts as Awako lays a pass on the path of Barnieh but a timely clearance by Jacob Mensah prevented a third goal.Â
