The Minister of Education in Ghana, Dr. Osei Adutwum has boldly sent a strong message to Grade A schools in Ghana that has made him receive some bashing from some Ghanaians.
While speaking at the University of Cape Coast on Friday, April 22, 2022, Dr. Adutwum dared the Grade A schools to admit students who had bad grades and change them to very good students to prove that indeed they are the best schools.
“I had a wonderful conversation with someone who is very high up, he called me one day and asked, why are you sending students with aggregate 22 to PRESEC?”
“I said Sir, I think PRESEC has one of the best groups of teachers in this country. And he said, it is true, PRESEC is his school and that they are examiners and very good. I said, so they are the ones who are good to teach students with an aggregate of 25. Those Grade A schools need to take these students with an aggregate of 20 and turn them around so that they can tell us that they are better than other schools.” The Minister boldly revealed.
However, some Ghanaians while reacting to this strongly disagreed with the minister and questioned why Harvard University doesn’t admit bad students and change them to good ones? They mentioned that the Minister had it wrong in his communication.
Below are some reactions of Ghanaians bashing the Education Minister for the comments he made. Kindly comment below on what you also think. Was the Minister right or wrong?
