Asante Kotoko talismanic midfielder Justice Nkuku Blay has undergone a successful surgery on his injured leg and, will be out for the rest of the season.
The player went under the knife on Wednesday and, according to the club’s medical team, this was successful and, they expect the player to make a quick recovery.
Blay was injured in Asante Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League, GPL game with Karela United in Kumasi, and, missed their 1-0 victory over arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak also in Kumasi.
The player has been a huge influence in the Asante Kotoko setup since he rejoined the Porcupines from Medeama SC just before the start of the second round of this season.
His absence however is not expected to have a telling effect on the Porcupines in their quest to wrestle the GPL title this season.
Kotoko leads the standing by eight points with nine matches to end the campaign, and, they are the bookmakers favourites to win the diadem.
They will play Legon Cities on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as they look to preserve their lead on the table.
Justice Blay will hope his colleagues will rise to the occasion and amass the needed points to wrestle the title to present him a get well soon offer.
