The Chief Justice has been in the headlines for some weeks now basically because of his directives to the courts that senior lawyers must be heard first. Today, the Attorney General has also sent a word of advice to the Chief Justice, Kwesi Anin Yeboah. Speaking at a recent conference, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame, stated boldly that the time has come for the Supreme Court to reduce its heavy load.
According to him, it was about time for the Supreme Court to take authority and avoid listening to cases that are “without merit”. He stated that the Supreme Court must decipher between ‘good cases’ and ‘bad cases’ and only give an open hearing to the ‘good ones’.
The Attorney General explained that it has come to his notice that such cases are very plenty and it constitutes a heavy load to the Supreme Court Judges.
