A lot of girls go through a lot in marriage because they chose money over love which didn’t end well for them. Asokwa Beyonce had a great interview with Louisa Adinkra and she said a lot about her life. Abena Nimah Mensah is my name but people popularly know me as Asokwa Beyonce. We are twins and I am the eldest, my twin is very calm and cool. Asokwa Beyonce was given to me by one of the movie directors in the Kumahood industry. My mother is a Queen and if my mother dies right now I would not take her place because the family will not choose me, they will choose my sister to replace her.
I was able to complete senior high school and I couldn’t continue to tertiary. After school, I faced a lot of challenges because the way I am I like to party a lot so always I need money. I also like buying clothes and love to have fun always. I don’t like being sad or lonely because it makes me think a lot, so that is why I always go to parties. Later I met a good man who had money and we dated for a very long time.
We got married and at the beginning of it, I was very happy in the marriage sometimes he can give me some money to go out and have fun with my friends. He understood me and allowed me to have fun. I have two children with him but later he treated me badly. When I got pregnant the second time my marriage began to collapse. I didn’t know why my husband changed his behavior toward me. I suffered a lot when I was about to give birth to my second child. For about six months of pregnancy, my husband didn’t come to the house to check up on me. I was doing everything myself and I was tired always. If I call him he will not pick it up and sometimes he will give money to someone to bring it to me.
I decided to go to the hospital to do an abortion and the doctor told me am six months pregnant and is not good for me to do an abortion. The doctor took my husband’s number and called him, he told the doctor he doesn’t care if I abort the baby. What my husband said made me change my mind then the doctor gave me money to take care of myself and he was checking up on me often. After I gave birth then I decided to stop marrying him because of how he was treating me.
