As part of preparation towards the final funeral rite of the late Denkyira Omanhene Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III residents in Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central region has held Mpr3 which is a traditional dirge displayed by the women in Denkyira awaiting the arrival of their king.
Speaking in an interview with Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko Dunkwatv.com,the Denkyira Abakomanhene Nana Gyekye Annim III said, Mpr3 is an activity of hooting, drumming, dancing of traditional dirge displayed by the women in the Denkyira awaiting the arrival of their king.
“Mpr3 will be held this week each community will take it’s turn to observe the Mpr3, proceeding the main burial rite of Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III” he added.
Nana Frema Ampomaa III, Dunkwa Obaahemaa also said, the Culture of Denkyira has a valuable role to play in the development of the youth.
“Our youth should embrace our culture and traditions and do away with western life’
She therefore urged people in Denkyira to take part in this activities.
Meanwhile, Nana Yaa Konadu Oforikrom Obaahemaa advised the youth Denkyira to stay away from drinking, stealing, and other immoral behaviors during and after the funeral of the late king.
