The National Communications Director of the largest opposition party, NDC has recently sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms after he boldly revealed another unexpected secret about the Supreme Court proceedings as the minority seeks to overturn the passage of the controversial E-levy in parliament.
Speaking in a recent interview on TV3 Network, the renowned politician, Sammy Gyamfi took the privilege to explain the injunction application on the controversial E-levy filed at the Supreme Court.
In addition to this, the renowned politician and member of the largest opposition party, NDC, Sammy Gyamfi later revealed that, the NDC have applied for an injunction abd the returning date fir the injunction application is 4th of May, 2022.
“The only way we could block that was to boycott and make sure that, they didn’t have the decision making chorum of 138 to make a constitutionally valid decision on the E-levy and so when we boycotted, they were left with only 136 MPs even the second MP was not brought into the chamber and it is very clear from article 1041 of the 1992 constitution and the recent case of Justice Abdulai that, 136 MPs cannot approve the E-levy. It is for this reason that we have filed a case in the Supreme Court to declare for a declaration that the purported approval of the E-levy by the majority 136 MPs of the new patriotic party was unconstitutional and void”, Sammy Gyamfi emphatically revealed.
