American based Broadcast Journalist and Founder of Loud Silence Media, Kevin Taylor has alleged that the New Patriotic Party is deliberately using Dr Kwabena Duffour to divert attention from former President John Dramani Mahama.
This claim comes after Dr Kwabena Duffour met with the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress in the Ashaiman Constituency as part of efforts to contest the flagbearer position of the National Democratic Congress.
News has been rife in recent times about the intention of the owner of the defunct Unibank and former Minister of Finance under the erstwhile John Evans Atta Mills administration to contest as Flagbearer of the party.
Even though former President John Dramani Mahama has not officially yet indicated his intention to contest for the role again, it remains obvious that he remains the favourite as has been reiterated by some high profile executives of the party on various platforms.
Reacting to the development during his show as monitored by Cityzen_Vigilante on Facebook, Kevin Taylor alleged that Kwabena Duffour’s quest is only a diversionary tactic by the ruling party to divert public attention from former President John Dramani Mahama. He was of the view that the ruling party sees John Dramani Mahama as the possible winner in 2024 and so they are employing all strategies to curtail that victory.
“Ghanaians are fed up with the New Patriotic Party and all indications points to the fact that John Dramani Mahama is winning 2024. Kwabena Duffour himself knows that he can never be the flagbearer of the NDC but the fact is that he is only being pushed by NPP to divert attention. Their strategy will fail and even if John Mahama dies, he would be brought back to lead the NDC”, he proffered.
Per the constitution of the National Democratic Congress, any member of the party in good standing is at liberty to contest for the flagbearer position and as the momentum gathers towards the party primaries, other individuals the former President are expected to announce their intention.
Meanwhile, the Presidency is expected to react to claims by an alleged ex-girlfriend of President Nana Addo Dankwa Auffo-Addo that he used the National Security to intimidate her.
