The Ghanaian-born Englishman says he is willing to switch allegiances and play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Eddie Nketiah, an Arsenal youth striker, has revealed that he is considering a move to the senior level for the West African nation.
Nketiah is eligible to play for Ghana’s Black Stars because both of his parents are Ghanaians.
Ghana’s qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup has become a crucial factor in persuading European-born players like Inaki Williams, Nico Williams, and Callum Hudson-Odoi to switch allegiance and play for the four-time African Cup of Nations champions.
The 22-year-old said in an exclusive interview with The Beautiful Game Podcast that he is still available to play for Ghana.
“Both of my parents are Ghanaians. It’s conceivable. I’m willing to play for either Ghana or England. Being from Ghana, you must be overjoyed that your country has qualified for the World Cup. I’m glad for players like Thomas Partey because I know them.
My club’s predicament takes precedence. At the moment, my sole concentration is on my club and ensuring that everything is in order for next season. When it’s done, I’ll be able to sit down and have that conversation with my family. It’s open to both [countries], and I’m not shutting anything down,” he stressed.
