The Sweat Was Worthwhile As Ghana Earns 3 Points & 3 Goals In Conakry, Guinea.

The Black Maidens of the Ghana women national team trashed Guinea in an impressive 3-1 win in the 1st leg of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup India 2022, third round qualifier in Conakry just this past Saturday.

The Captain, Georgina Aoyem scored the first opener for Ghana after a header from Comfort Yeboah’s corner kick which was headed down by Zuleiha Fuseini in the 13th minute. Rasheeda Shahadu increased the score line for Ghana giving Ghana a 2-0 cushioning as the Maidens went into the break with the upper hand.After the first half, Guinea regrouped and strategized and quickly netted a goal in the 47th minute to make it 2-1.

Mariam Matiti, striker for the Black Maidens great football play and hard work produced results as she scores Ghana’s 3rd goal in the 59th minute. Ghana held on with 3-1 until the final whistle was blown to win the 1st leg in Conakry. In a post-match interview Coach Baba Nuhu revealed to the GFA Communications that the Black Maidens needed not to attack but he wanted to stay on a low to medium tempo before reorganizing.

The 2nd leg will take place at the Cape Coast stadium on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Evidently the Black Maidens are after a record of seven (7) successive appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
