Ancelotti: ” referee had given a red card to Camavinga, his plan would have been complete”

In an interview after Real Madrid’s win against Sevilla, Ancelotti claimed the referee “robbed” Madrid and that giving a red card to Camavinga would have made his plan successful.

On Sunday, Karim Benzema completed yet another stunning Real Madrid comeback, this time defeating Sevilla 3-2 in La Liga.

Losing would have given the chasing group new hope, since Sevilla and Barcelona were both 12 points behind at the start of the day, with Barcelona having two games in hand.

Instead, goals in the second half from Rodrygo, Nacho Fernandez, and Benzema in the 92nd minute extend Madrid’s lead to 15 points with six games remaining.

Ancelotti on Rodrygo:

“Rodrygo better from the bench? This is what stats say. I think he will be a great player. He played an amazing game today.”

Vinicius thought he had tied the game at 2-2 in the 74th minute, only for the goal to be called off because the Brazilian had controlled the ball with his arm rather than his chest, according to the referee.

Ancelotti on Vinicius handball and the referee

“I think it wasn’t a handball. Vinicius was very sure he didn’t touch the ball with his arm.”

He added: “It’s difficult for me  to understand the handballs.”

Carlo Ancelotti continued: “Vinicius’ goal was never a hand ball. It seems the referee had a plan for the game. Vinicius told me that he didn’t touch the ball. I can’t believe the ref disallowed that, if he had given the red card to Camavinga as well – his plan would’ve worked perfectly.”

Ancelotti on Real Madrid’s comeback:

“I’m not saying that I’m surprised because this team doesn’t surprise me anymore. I thank each one of them”
