One Teacher One Uniform: GES Finally Breaks Silence On Pictures Causing Heavy Traffic Online

Social media was awashed with khaki uniforms purported to be the new uniform for teachers in Ghana. Few ladies wore the attire and took pictures for social media publications to commend the Government for what they called one teacher one uniform initiative. The outfit comes in shirt and skirt or trousers designed like that of the security services.

Many people commented on the outfit. While a lot of them made mockery of the attire, others expressed delight over the outfit.

However, the director general of Ghana education service has denied knowledge of the attire. According to the GES boss, although it is the intention of the education regulator to ensure teachers are provided with standard uniform as professionals, it has not come out with such a design.

Prof Opoku Amankwah who spoke in an interview on Accra based Kasapa FM urged the public to dismiss such reports as they are not credible.

“The GES has not prescribed any uniforms. People should find out if the people posing in those pictures are even teachers from Ghana.

“When GES proposes something we don’t go to social media to display it, we don’t have anything to do with that,” he said.

Prof Opoku-Amankwah described the move as an action by some faceless individuals to tarnish the reputation of the GES.
