The Old Students Association of the Bechem Presby Senior High School is making frantic efforts to raise funds to build an ultra-modern library facility for its Alma mater.
The Association is worried the current library facility with about 48 seating capacity is unable to cater to the student population of about 4,000.
This according to the Association continues to hinder academic activities in the school.
The Association has far raised close to Two hundred thousand Ghana cedis and needs about Four hundred thousand Ghana cedis to complete the Library project.
Speaking at the 2022 National Mini Congress in Kumasi on the theme ‘The Nobles Dreams; Our Library Project-Unfinished Business’, President of Bechem Presec Old Students Association, Jeremiah Alaley said the project was dear to the Association and old students of various year groups were committed and ready to support the course.
He appealed to old students of the school both in Ghana and abroad to offer their support to help complete the library project to enhance academic activities in the school.
He added that “It is really affecting academic work. About 4,000 students with 48 seating capacity library, how can they make use of it? It is affecting the students. Even though the Headmaster is doing very well, passes this year is very encouraging even with the limited infrastructure”.
Although Mr. Alaley said the school is faced with other challenges, the Association is currently focusing on completing the library project to improve academic activities.
An Elderly Member in the Association, Alfred Kwasi Opoku said the year groups have so far shown their willingness to help complete the project and the leadership of the Association will work to whip up the interest of members to give back to the school.
The Bechem Presby Senior High School has trained students who currently occupy positions in agencies in both Government and private sectors.
