51-year-old Isaac Dompreh who was driving a black coloured Toyota Land Cruiser with his daughter on the Kumasi Atonsu to Suntreso road, has been confirmed dead at the Suntreso Hospital. Isaac Dompreh died this morning at 8 AM, her daughter Felicity Dompreh confirmed after the man was rushed to the hospital at 6:50 AM.
My mother and brothers are yet to report to the hospital and will take over from there, the 16-year-old Felicity Dompreh said after her father was confirmed dead. The man who was driving from Accra to Sunyani with his daughter had made a stop at Kumasi Atonsu last night to rest when he complained of fever and headaches.
Felicity according to her narration, passed by a pharmacy to take some drugs before she and the father passed over to a friend’s house at Atonsu to spend the night there. We would have continued the trip but his headaches were too much, so we bought drugs at the pharmacy on the road and went over to Uncle Ben’s house.
We spent the night at Uncle Ben’s house and was driving to Suntreso for breakfast this morning when he suddenly collapsed on the wheel. The traffic was slow, and if not for that, he would have crashed the vehicle, Felicity said to the ambulance operators after the incident.
Isaac Dompreh, while in traffic, was having a conversation with his daughter when he collapsed on the Antonsu to Suntreso highway. Isaac was saved from injuries when his seat belts prevented him from felling off.
Felicity together with other drivers phoned the emergency response lines and an ambulance from the Suntreso Hospital was dispatched to the scene of the accident. Isaac was taken to the hospital this morning but could not survive and died. The family (wife and senior children) of Isaac Dompreh are yet to report to the hospital after their daughter communicated to them about the incident.
Felicity is still at the hospital in the of hospital counsellors as her family moves from Sunyani to Kumasi. It is unclear what killed Isaac, but doctors believe a heart failure with underlying conditions such as diabetes, may have been the cause.
Though an autopsy hasn’t been granted, but from the narration of Felicity Dompreh, there won’t be any autopsy on the body of the deceased, since the family belongs to the Seven Day Adventist (SDA) association. The body is still at the hospital whiles the car has been taken to a secured parking lot.
