The PRO for NABCO Trainees Association, Nana Tachie has expressed his disappointment in the Government concerning how NABCO trainees are been handled in the country. He said that the trainees are working tirelessly to improve the productivity of this country, however, their allowances have kept on being delayed.
For months now, the NABCO trainees have not received their allowances. He said their living conditions have worsened and are always in debt. Nana Tachie disclosed that he cannot boast of having even GHC 200 in his account since he registered as a NABCO trainee. Because their allowances are always delayed they are in debt.
He added that the CEO of NABCO, Dr Ibrahim Barhama is creating an impression in the public that the scheme is working to perfection but that is far from reality. The NABCO trainee program officially ended in October 2021 but they were made to continue the program hitherto.
Dr Ibrahim Barhama released an official statement declaring the end of the scheme. In it, he assured the trainees that all arrears were going to be paid but nothing has been paid to them. The PRO continued that all efforts have been made to bring the government on board to resolve the outstanding issues but to no avail.
He said that the NABCO employees are worried and for that matter celebrated Christmas on empty stomachs. He expressed much disappointment in Dr Ibrahim and the government for failing to grant them permanent jobs as promised and being unable to pay them their outstanding allowances.Â
