Several Nigerians have condemned the decision of Kano Hisbah Police board to invite the parents of 18-year-old Shatu Garko, who recently emerged as the first hijab Miss Nigeria over the weekend.
Based on that note, the former senator that represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani decided to react.
While reacting, the former lawmaker made it clear that the newly crowned Miss Nigeria, Miss Shatu Garko, contested Miss Nigeria pageant decently dressed, stating it clearly that she did not cross the line of cultural standards in the north.
Speaking further, Senator Shehu Sani stated that over there in the north, there are daughters of the rich and powerful that have done that with impunity. He ended by appealing to the Hisbah authorities to let the young lady be.
That’s a good statement from Shehu Sani. There are several Northern ladies who dress indecently, yet Hisbah have not invited them for questioning. Religion does not discriminate, so things must be done properly so that we will move forward as a country.
