Andy Uba was never a major obstacle to Charles Soludo but, the nullification of his candidacy in the just concluded Anambra election by a Federal High Court in Abuja puts further blow to his already failing hopes of becoming the next governor of Anambra state.

Since the Anambra state gubernatorial elections was conducted in November and Charles Soludo was returned elected as winner of the election, Andy Uba has constantly alleged that the election results was rigged in favour of Soludo.

Uba was advised by many to accept the outcome of the election but, he refused. He claimed that he has enough evidence to prove that Charles Soludo was not the actual winner of the election and that he will also reclaim his stolen mandate.

Andy Uba’s refusal to concede defeat to Soludo may have led to his own undoing in Anambra state as far as politics is concerned. He had all the opportunity to make the right choice, but he decided to do otherwise.

When things became too serious, his Kinsmen advised his to concede defeat to Soludo and show a spirit of good sportsmanship like the other candidates who have conceded defeat to Soludo.

Andy Uba refused to listen to them, even though they threatened to deal with him both spiritually and legally. Truth be told, Uba had a lot of chances to concede defeat and accept the hand of fellowship Soludo extended to him but, he refused. Had he done that, he would have maintained his relevance in the state till the next elections.

Throughout the period Uba was alleging that election was rigged, he was never supported by the people. They believed that the election was free and fair, and that the outcome of the election was a clear reflection of the will of the people.

Now that the court has held that his emergence as flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress in the concluded election was illegal, and that he was never supposed to be a candidate in the election, he may have lost all his chances to work together with Soludo. And that may have led to his own undoing as far as Anambra politics is concerned.
