Police Forced To Call For Back Up After One Officer is Shot By Locals in Kisumu

Police officers were forced to call for back up from their colleagues following an attack by locals in Kisumu County. One officers was shot on the neck by locals who were armed with poisonous arrows.

However, the residents engaged the officers in running battles before the officers released tear gas on them and a some live bullets to disperse the angry mob.

The incident happened in Muhoroni area leaving one person dead after reportedly being shot and three Police Officers with serious injuries following a squabble with the crowd that had confused them for burglars.

The incident at Sidho in Muhoroni, Kisumu County has left four others including a lady nursing serious gunshots wounds. The office was speared on the neck by the furious crowd following the 11 am incident today when three cops who were accompanying authorities from a tobacco organization raided one shop at Sidho East Sub Location to flush out illegally obtained tobacco.

Trouble started minutes later after the officials from Chemelil entered the shop and where they found the wife to she shop’s owners. It is when locals raided thinking the officers were thugs.
