I’ve learned throughout the years that no matter how carefully we plan, life is unexpected. This was the situation for a 22-year-old woman and her parents. Marita, like any other kid, was born normal and lived with her parents. Her life, however, altered drastically when she turned three. When she returned home one wonderful evening after playing with her friends, her body temperature was quite high, and her eyes had become yellow.
When Mauriciana’s grandma saw her condition, she took her to the hospital. This, however, bore no fruit since after the physicians injected her, her body began to acquire a large number of black blotches. Marita’s body began to dry up after being moved to multiple hospitals without assistance.
It’s when the physicians proposed that Marita’s legs be removed or she would die, and after the procedure, she was perfectly fine and no longer ailing. People resided in an area where a number of the neighbours practised witchcraft, as per her. Marita, who now lives with her grandmother, claims that witchcraft is to blame for the loss of both legs.
Homesick, Marita’s parents were bickering, claiming that one of them is to blame for what is happening to their daughter, and when they couldn’t reach an agreement, they split up. The parents split up because they were afraid the witches would come for them and their daughter. They fled away to locations and never returned.
Marita believes she will still not accept her family for ditching her when she wanted them far more, and she is unsure if she wants to see them.
Marita claims that her parents divorced due to her disabilities. Again according to her mother, who contacted her because once they neglected her. Marita has been living a life of struggle since her parents abandoned her, and her only request is that she be given a wheelchair to help her move around.
