About 400 youths with cutlasses, stones and other wooden objects surrounded the Nyinawusu Chief’s Palace after some armed robbers numbering five stormed the place to go about their normal operations on the 16th of December. Even though the police was called upon at about 6pm to handle the situation at the place, they got there only to find this huge number of youths already surrounding the Palace of which they tried to calm these angry youths down to no avail.
According to reports reaching kofiknowledge, the youths began throwing the stones at the Police to the extent of damaging some of their windscreens. They then had to retreat calling in for reinforcement from the Regional Headquarters to help control the situation. Getting there about 8pm to save the situation, the youths had already done justice to these five robbers. After they were sent to the Afari Hospital, four of them were confirmed dead as a result of the attacks from the youth and one ended up being in a very critical condition.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Afari Hospital for preservation, identification and autopsy. The surviving robber, Mustapha, who happens to be in a critical condition has been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Two of the Police Officers sustained minor injuries after the incident. No arrests have been made yet in relation to the incident.
