Upon extensive questioning, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has revealed that the Akufo-Addo-led government has spent over 6.8 billion Ghana Cedis on importation of rice and other food stuff (including Chicken, Fish, Meat, Poultry and Vegetables) from January 2017 to December 2020.
This report from the Honourable Minister clearly indicates that the Planting for Food and Jobs Initiative, coupled the with One District One Dam Project are just on paper. The government has woefully failed to make them a living fountain, and in order to convince Ghanaians that the projects are alive, they start the projects on paper, inject monies into it, and spend it anyhow.
It is worth noting that President Akufo-Addo is a lover of the West than his very own, contrary to what was recently reported by Forbes South Africa. He sold this country long time ago to the foreign folks, and still trying to steal from the poor citizens, the E-Levy imposition.
But the media is not helping things. All they know how to do best is to go around reporting the adjusted and modified information put out there by politicians, without practically and wisely critiquing or exposing their evil deeds. Just see on the TV – they will invite these two parties to come and make ‘senseless’ submissions, to make Ghanaians furious. One thing I know is that the Media is to solve problems in society. The media’s work is to take preventive measures to avoid wasteful spending by the government. On the contrary, the Media only reports after the money has been wasted. Why can’t they do underground investigations to proactively block the routes that led to their corrupt practices, like Anas Aremeyaw Ana’s and co are doing?
The media’s work is supposed to include petitioning of government officials when they spend monies they are not supposed to. But if all of us watch them loot, without taken any actions against them, then what is the essence of the media in society? The role of the media and activist groups in this country needs to be redefined and reconstructed.
