African music has long influenced genres worldwide, starting with the blues in the 19th century which has its roots in the music carried to America’s Mississippi Delta by African people forced into the slave trade. It has also helped shape merengue, jazz, and, of course, rock, but on the western cusp of the African continent artists have adopted their own take on a popularized American sound.
A unique hybrid of highlife and hip-hop, hiplife served as an expressive platform for younger artists. We always see many artists showing up in the industry day in day out. The more these artists work hard, the more they are able to shoot up and make a name for themselves worldwide.
African artists are seen doing various music in almost all the genres in music. In Ghana, many of our artists are doing well. Since the 80s and 90s, Ghanaian artists have gotten the attention of many listeners. Now, our Ghanaian artists are also doing well in their various genres and their music is also gaining grounds online. Many of them have done well this year also.
