The Deputy Minority Leader, Honorable James Klutse Avedzi, raised an alarm on the business statement for the following week, presented by the Deputy Majority leader, Afenyo Markins. The main reason why Honorable James Avedzi raised that alarm was because the e-levy bill was not captured inside the business statement.

The minority explained that the financial bills, particularly the e-levy bill was an issue of concern for all Ghanaians. Therefore, they believed that it must be captured in the statement for referral to the appropriate committees so that it will be decided if the bill should be approved or rejected. The Deputy Minority Chief Whip suspected that it was an intentional move of the majority leadership so that on the final day, the e-levy will be passed quickly under a certificate of urgency.

The First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu reacted to the concern raised by the minority caucus with a simple response and question.

“All what you are saying is in the business statement. If you look in 2d, it is there. Bills, papers and reports will be presented. Will the e-levy not come in the form of a bill?

“I am surprised at how the minority members are trying to change how everything is done here in Parliament”, he added
