Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has admitted that his charges were caught flat footed in the week six defeat last Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors went down and suffered their first defeat of the season against a rejuvenated opponent, King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 2021/22 league season. The week six encounter saw Kotoko being down three times but managed to reply two goals. King Faisal’s goals came from Zubairu Ibrahim who bagged a hat-trick on the 3rd, 14th and the 68th minutes with Cameroonian striker, Mfegue Omgba grabbing two goals on the 48th 72nd minutes for Kotoko. The defeat leaves Kotoko and King Faisal on 13 points each atop of the table.

Prosper Narteh Ogum said: “I think we played well, we created the chances, we could have converted those chances but we couldn’t convert those chances. “In a game of football, if you don’t convert those chances that’s what happens. “When we started the game, I think we were flat so they caught us two times on the break and I think those cross passes they were able to connect them.” Prosper Narteh Ogum said in an interview with StarTimes’ Eli Kondo.

Asante Kotoko started the season on a very good footing – having to grab a 3-1 comeback opening victory against Dream fc at the Accra Sports Stadium. The highest league title holders won their next three games by beating Bechem United 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in week two, a 1-0 win at Gold Stars in the third week and a 2-0 home win over Eleven Wonders in week four. Their winning run was halted in a goalless draw at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park against Karela United in the fifth week before suffering a first defeat at home to King Faisal in week six.
