The Northern regional branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union of Ghana(TUC) has released a press statement urging all commercial drivers to stay at home on Monday, 6th December, 2021 and not go to work. The strike is set to start from 5am on Monday till further notice.

In the letter which was signed by Alhaji Abubakari, the regional chairman urged all commercial drivers to embark on a sit down strike from Monday till further notice.

The general public at the region are also urged to get to know this notice and bear with the drivers to avoid any inconveniences.

The Union in return wants the government to grant their wish for them. If the government fails, then the strike will never end. The letter however didn’t state what they want from the government. However before any strike like this takes place, there would be series of meetings with the government and the drivers. But the government may seem to not grant them their wish.

Below is the full letter released.
