The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong has said he is confident that security concerns bedevilling the area would be dealt with.

This follows a visit by the acting Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to the Eastern Region to interact with traditional leaders, as well as REGSEC on the state of affairs with respect to security.

The region has, in the past few months, been in the news for various robbery incidents which prompted the deployment of an anti-robbery squad to deal with the incidents.

In an interview with Citi News, the Eastern Regional Minister, who doubles as Chairman of the Regional Security Council, said the necessary arrangements will be made to ensure the safety of residents.

He also commended the acting IGP for the leadership he has shown so far since he assumed office.

“When COP Dr, George Akuffo Dampare took office, he hurriedly sent us some anti-robbery squad to come and support us in the region to tame the criminals and fortunately some of the team came to this neighbourhood (Kwaku enclave) and he is here to observe the impact of the exercise and to ensure that we are truly getting the public safety that the region requires.”

“So I am confident that what we have discussed so far will offer us some respite and let us look forward to a better-managed crime.”
