E-commerce firm QNet has reacted to the arrest of some individuals parading as clients of the company.
The internationally recognized e-commerce platform distanced itself from the actions of the arrested persons, stressing that their actions do not in any way align to the code of conduct.
“QNET does not and will not condone any such misconduct. We are deeply disappointed with the developing outcome of this isolated and unfortunate incident.
“QNET condemns the actions of these unscrupulous individuals misusing and misrepresenting the QNET brand in Ghana.”
The statement from the company follows the arrest of two agents of QNET, Pafio Agordo, 20, and Wisdom Korda, 21, in the Eastern Region by the Adweso District Police Command.
The two are in the grips of the police for allegedly kidnapping and defrauding one Wisdom of an amount of money.
The victim narrates that he was approached by the suspects who explained in detail the terms of the offer and subsequently invited him to their office.
Upon arrival at Two-Streams Community, he was held against his will and was used as bait to obtain money from his relatives.
The victim’s family, after the demand made a report to the Ghana Police Service, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Meanwhile, QNET has assured that swift and stern actions will be taken against the said distributors in question.
“QNET reiterates that it respects the rule of law in Ghana and will abide and operate within the framework of the relevant legislation.

According to the institution, it will cooperate with any relevant state agencies to ensure that these illegal activities are immediately curtailed.

QNET’s Code of Conduct strictly prohibits any form of illegal cross-border movement from one location to another under any false pretense or promises of jobs or for any illegal gatherings to take place as alleged. QNET does not and will not condone any such misconduct. We are deeply disappointed with the developing outcome of this isolated and unfortunate incident.
