The Management of Central University has rejected some media reports suggesting that its Miotso Campus in the Greater Accra Region is not safe for students.
According to the management, such reports are untrue and should be disregarded.
The school made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, September 9, 2021, and signed by its Registrar.
“The Management of Central University has noted with concern a number of media voices that seek to create the impression that the Miotso Campus of the University is unsafe for students.”
The statement also added that efforts are always made to ensure students, employees, and visitors are safe.
It however clarified that the level of crimes that happen on the campus is the same as what normally happens on any typical university campus.
“The University makes every effort to keep the campus safe and to provide all students, employees, and visitors with a positive experience while on campus. The level of serious crime and theft on campus is comparable to what pertains on typical university campuses across the country.”
“Indeed, for the whole of the second semester of the 2020/21 academic year, there were only 6 reported cases of armed robbery within or outside the campus.”
Meanwhile, it also added that “in order to further boost off-campus security, a security post is nearing completion on the Miotso gate of the campus. When completed, this would be manned by police.”
