The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A. Jinapor has asked management and staff of the Lands Commission to, as a matter of urgency, ensure a robust land administration anchored on integrity, for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
The Minister stated this when he interacted with the staff and management of the Commission, today, Thursday, 1 September 2021 in Accra.
He said the country cannot make progress if the lands administration system cannot be trusted.
He, therefore, entreated the management and staff to work diligently to help Ghana make progress in her developmental agenda.
The Minister touched on interventions being made by the Ministry and by extension the government to improve the lands sector adding that these interventions, including lands digitization, will not only change the operational activities of the Commission but also improve the welfare of staff.
He tasked the Executive Secretary of the Commission to ensure the full implementation of the land digitization process for an efficient lands service delivery.
For his part, the Ag. Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Mr. James E. Dadson said, the focus of merging the four divisions and the introduction of a new search system to eliminate controversies on land administration will commence today, September, 1st and be fully implemented by October 1st, 2021.
He assured staff of prompt promotion and upgrading stressing that “we are determined to move the lands commission forward.”
The Executive Secretary also applauded the Minister for inaugurating all 16 Lands Commissions in the regions and added that a Regional Operations Unit has been set up at the Head office to deal with issues from the various regions and ensure standardization in all operations of the Commission.
