Aug. 31 (UPI) — An animal rescuer in New York responded to a three-story building in Brooklyn to rescue a raccoon hanging by its tail from a vent near the roof.
The Strong Island Animal Rescue League said rescuer Frankie Florida drove from Suffolk County to Coney Island when residents called to report a raccoon’s tail was stuck in the vent cover about 75 feet over the ground.
Florida said the residents had placed mattresses on the ground in case the animal fell.
A video shared by the rescue group shows Florida standing on the roof and using a catch pole to lasso the raccoon and lift it up to the top of the building.
Florida said the raccoon was examined for injuries and released back into the wild.
