Sharon Stone set to be honored at Zurich Film Festival with Golden Icon Award

Aug. 26 (UPI) — Sharon Stone is set to receive the Golden Icon Award at the Zurich Film Festival.

The Golden Icon Award is the Zurich Film Festival’s highest accolade. Stone will be present to accept the award on Sept. 25. The festival runs from Sept. 23 to Oct. 3.

Stone’s appearance will be followed by a screening of 1995’s Casino by director Martin Scorsese where the actress portrayed Ginger Martin. The role earned Stone a Golden Globe award and an Oscar nomination.

Stone is also known for starring in Basic Instinct, Total Recall, The Specialist, The Quick and the Dead, Last Dance, Sphere, The Mighty, The Muse and The Laundromat, among other films. Television roles has included Ratched, The New Pope and Mosaic.

“It is an honor to engage with the global community and celebrate the profound depth of our art. I am thrilled to be recognized in this capacity,” Stone said in a statement.

Cate Blanchett, Juliette Binoche, Glenn Close, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere and Sean Penn have previously received the Golden Icon Award.
