Aug. 17 (UPI) — Kristen Stewart’s new film Spencer will open in theaters in November.
Neon, which is distributing the film, announced a Nov. 5 release date for the movie Tuesday.
Spencer will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and screen at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Spencer is written by Steven Knight and directed by Pablo LarraÃn. Stewart plays Princess Diana, born Diana Spencer, the first wife of British royal Prince Charles.
The film takes place over a holiday weekend in the early 1990s when Diana decided to leave her marriage to Charles (Jack Farthing).
“Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life,” Stewart previously said.
Diana and Charles were married from 1981 to 1996 and have two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana died in a car crash at age 36 in August 1997.
Neon shared a photo in March featuring Stewart as Diana. Stewart said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November 2020 that she feels “protective” of Diana after playing her in Spencer.
