“I Chose Boxing Over Football”

The Ghanaian featherweight boxer, Samuel Takyi said after his defeat to the American opponent, Regan in the semis this dawn that he was torn between football and boxing.

The Boxer who has lost in the Semi but still has got him himself a medal said “ I started boxing at 8 and had to choose between boxing and football, where I was very good as a fast and a dribbling winger. My coaches are boxing people and where I lived is a boxing community with many boxing gym, so it was very easy for me to become a boxer and I know boxing can make me rich and also travel, so I think I am cool”

The bout ended 4-1 in favor of Regan, who is a fight away from winning gold. Samuel Takyi has made Ghana proud by winning the nation’s first medal in 29 years.
